Welcome to Oak Class 2020-2021
Miss Sanders and Mrs Spencer/Mrs Crossland
We kicked off the year by learning about Wassily Kandinsky. We learnt about his history and the expressionism style of art he painted. Oak then had a go at painting their own Concentric Circles.
This term, we have been studying the Terrible Tudors! We have learnt all about their lifestyles; how they came into power, their diets, the clothes they wore and all 6 of King Henry VIII's wives! We ended our topic, by having an amazing Tudor Banquet! The children loved dressing up as Tudors and taking part in Tudor-themed activities. They were very full with all the food they tried!
Our writing in Literacy, this term had a letter focus. We have practised how to write in a letter format and the appropriate tone to use for the intended audience. Our final letter was based on our Tudor day.
In Numeracy, Oak have learnt the importance of place value right up to 5 digit numbers! We then have used these numbers in column addition and to solve missing or worded mathematical problems.
Oak have had the chance to build up their fitness, in PE this term. We also used our knowledge of the Tudors to create a dance.
Most recently, we took part in #HelloYellow to support World Mental Health Day. Oak enjoyed dressing in yellow and found learning about mental health interesting. We also ran a 'design a T-shirt competition' of which, in our bubble, Josh won!
