Every child, Every chance, Every day
Welcome to Lime Class
Miss Hooper - class teacher
Mrs Cooper and Mrs Bird - teaching assistants
Topic
In Topic we have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians. The children have learnt about the timeline of Ancient Egypt and Egypt's location, jobs and religion in Ancient Egypt, and - most excitingly - mummification!
We have been creating maps, designing cartouches (writing our names using hieroglyphs), and mummifying oranges.
We also created our own Egyptian death masks. These were laid on mummified pharoahs in the pyramids. A death mask was created so that the soul would recognise its body, and return to it safety in the afterlife.
Literacy
To support our Egyptians topic, Lime class wrote some exciting diary entries about discovering a mysterious Egyptian artefact. They applied their learning about adjectives and time adverbs to create engaging pieces of writing.
We used this video to spark their imaginations:
Maths
Maths this term has focused on place value and addition. The children have been using representations to show numbers - using dienes, counters, place value additions and words. See below for an example we made as a class!
Here are some great websites you can use to practise your place value and addition skills:

Lovell Visit
This week the building company Lovell came to talk to us about how homes are being built in our local area.
We learnt how to measure up a house for plaster, identified different building materials, thought about local wildlife and even got to build our own house!
